    The Institute of Instrumentation Technology in Cochin University of Science and Technology, Ernakulam, Kerala is in fact one of the premier institutions established for the promotion of instrumentation technology. Incorporated in 1978 as a constituent unit of CUSAT, this theater of learning and knowledge creation in this discipline has been active for over four decades. In the colourful city of Kochi, the department provides a variety of programmes that suit all levels of education as undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The department is staffed with faculty of 5 members and the courses offered ensure adequate academic attention to the students. The institution is recognised by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), as a result of which the quality of the pedagogy and curricula prevail at the institution is high.

    Cochin University of Science and Technology has a Department of Instrumentation that has well equipped and enrichable amenities for the students as follows. The laboratories are well furnished with modern day equipment that supports the scientific research experiments and measurements as practiced by the students. These labs are concerning Core Subjects of Instrumentation Engineering so that students can meet challenges in advance due to ever changing technology. The department has a rich resource in the shape of its library, which has a full collection of books on various aspects of instrumentation, and also, subscriptions to various national as well as international journals. 

    The following courses are offered at the Department of Instrumentation; The programmes offered at this level are as follows: There are three full-time programmes available: Instrumentation Technology B.Tech,Instrumentation Technology M.Tech and M.Sc in Instrumentation. B.Tech programme is of four years duration and consists of 28 intakes the course shapes the candidate as an instrumentation technology expert. However, for those interested in a more focused programme, the postgraduate programme-M.Tech has 18 and M.Sc having 15 seats and take two years of study. These programmes are intended to ensure that students acquire both the theoretical concept as well as the practical application so as to enable them practice as professional instrumentation when they complete their studies.

    The process of admission which is followed at CUSAT for the Department of Instrumentation strictly admits qualifying students through merit. For M.Tech course, Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering GATE is one of the criteria of admission.

    • The admission process will only be completed once the candidate pays the necessary fees within the stipulated time.

    Department of Instrumentation Eligibility Process

    The criteria under which the Department of Instrumentation admission would take place would differ from programme to programme. Passing the 10+2 or equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as main subjects is a requirement for candidates to be eligible for B.Tech in Instrumentation Technology. The requirement for M.Tech and M.Sc. requires that the candidates carry either an appropriate bachelor's degree in engineering or have a similar degree in science, respectively.     Department of Instrumentation B.Tech. Admission Process

    B.Tech Instrumentation Technology is a four-year undergraduate programme with an admission capacity of 28 seats. Department of Instrumentation admission is based on the candidate's performance at the relevant entrance examination. Eligibility generally includes a qualification of 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.

    Department of Instrumentation M.Tech. Admission Process

    18 seats are available for M.Tech Instrumentation Technology two-year postgraduate programme. Mostly, Department of Instrumentation admission is granted on a GATE score basis. Candidates should have a bachelor's degree in engineering or technology in a related discipline. Selection may also have a bearing on academic performance and on university-prescribed criteria.

    Department of Instrumentation M.Sc. Admission Process

    M.Sc Instrumentation is a two-year postgraduate programme that allows for admission into 15 seats. Entrance admission will be based more on the candidate's performance in the undergraduate programme with a possible entrance test. The eligibility requirement is that you would normally require a bachelor's degree in a specified discipline of science.
