Kazi Nazrul University, Burdwan, a constituent college of the University of Kazi Nazrul started in the year 2015 has its Department of Law. Being situated in Asansol, West Bengal, this institution has grown as one of the prominent centre’s for legal education. The department which is duly accredited by the Bar Council of India prescribes various law programmes with intention to produce legal professionals. Currently, the faculty strength of the department is five talented educators; it implies individual approach to the students and effective learning process. The existence of the institution is seen in offering of a wide range of Legal courses to learners across the different levels of learning including the under graduate, post graduate and doctoral studies this is for the various areas of specialisation.

The Department of Law has made a number of improvements that effectively support the academic process of its students. A fully equipped moot court is available for assuming practical experience in court processes and arguments. Some of the teaching aids that are in the department’s classrooms include, provisions for power point presentations to show that the institution is growing in its adoption of technology within the school of law. Students equally enjoy harness of good IT facilities, to CONNECT them and make sure they have all relevant resources needed without being offline. In order to have a more holistic college life, there are sports amenities in the college so more focus on both education and health.

The Department of Law developed in aggregate, 6 courses within 4 degree programmes, proving its multispectral approach to legal education. These are full time programmes at Undergraduate, Post graduate and doctoral level. For the integrated BA LLB (Hons) programme there are 60 seats while for all the LLM specialisations there are 11 seats each for Criminal Law and Constitutional Law and Legal Order and Environmental Law and Legal Order each. For those who wish to participate in the development of legal research, the Ph.D. in Law programme accepts 3 students.
