The Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Regional Institute of Medical Sciences and Research, Kottayam is one of the premier institutions engaged in the purpose of pharmaceutical education in Kerala India. It is affiliated with the University of Kerala and based in Thalapaddy, Kottayam although the college runs under an AICTE approval to ensure quality delivery of education. The fact regarding the establishing year is unclear, but going by the name, the institute has set a foot in the field of pharmaceutical science. Presently headed by six faculty members, it comprises specialised courses of pharmacy for the student pharmacists and researchers.
Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences a variety of facilities in an effort to provide optimal environments to the students learning process. The library is designed as knowledge centre and offers students numerous sources on pharmacological literature. For the students who are further interested in the specialisation, the institute is affiliated to M.Pharma in Pharmaceutics. It is a two-year full-time programme, open to 15 students at any one time and concentrates on research in modern concepts in pharmaceuticals and research methods. Both of these programmes are intended to be completed on a full-time basis in order to provide the students with most concentrated educational experience in the chosen area.
