The DoT SPPU is one of the colleges affiliated to the well-known Savitribai Phule Pune University known as Pune university The Institute was established of the later part of twentieth century as an aggregate of new branches of higher education in the context of world development. Situated in the main province of Maharashtra, particularly in Pune, this institute expands the wide range of technical and professional programmes.

This makes the Department of Technology determined to deliver quality technology facilities to their students. The institute has a library with more than 2000 titles including fundamental engineering, life science and clinical research. Students also have the opportunity to use other library of the university and it is the university’s main Jayakar Library. The laboratories situated in the department are intended to allow practical experience in different technical fields. The IT equipment is well developed; there are several computers with internet facilities and licensed software including Ms,Word, Excel,Powerpoint , CATIA and Ansys. For purposes of improving learning every classroom is equipped with multimedia systems and LCD projector. 

DoT SPPU has a wide list of programmes for both the undergraduate and the postgraduate students. The institute offers 7 M.Tech programmes and 5 integrated M.Tech/Ph.D programmes, 7 P.G. Diploma courses, 1 B.Sc and 1 B.Tech programme in total 21 courses. Among such programmes, the most popular with the capacity of 60 students are the B.Sc. in Animation and VFX and PGD in Electric Mobility. 

The principles of selection at the Department of Technology, SPPU are aimed at the admission of suitable candidates. Concerning M.Tech programmes, the admission is given depending on the qualification of courses to the national level, entrance test, and counseling. The PGD courses are generally more flexible in their admission requirements, that is, the applicant’s past academic record and experience. ESP the B.Sc. in Animation and VFX and B.Tech in Aviation Technology that the university may offer might have different entrance examination or merit based.
