Dr Shahidullah Institute of Education, North 24 Parganas, West Bengal, was started in the year 2018. This co-educational institute is affiliated with the National Council for Teacher Education. This institution has a total enrolment of 200 students, and it has a faculty strength of 16 to maintain a fair student-teacher ratio for individual attention to the aspiring educator.

The college is affiliated with Baba Saheb Ambedkar Education University (BSAEU), Kolkata, and recognised by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE). Dr Shahidullah Institute of Education has adequate facilities to support the learning experience of its students. Among other things, it has well-equipped libraries that have been updated with the educational materials required, departmental laboratories for practical training, and sports facilities for physical well-being. Currently, there are two major courses in the field of education that Dr. Shahidullah Institute of Education offers. All the courses offered at the institution are full-time ones, and they extend for two years. For the two offered courses, namely the B.Ed. and D.El.Ed, the institution has an approved total intake of 200 seats, where equal seats are allocated to each course.

Admission to Dr Shahidullah Institute of Education is based purely on merit, marks obtained in the qualifying examination and/ or Entrance Examination. The Institute follows the State Government of West Bengal and the Affiliated University's admission policies. In the case of B.Ed. programme, selection at the Institute level may add more criteria in accordance with the University guidelines. The D.El.Ed. Admission is mostly on the basis of the merit list prepared in conformity with state government policies.
