Eastern Dooars B.Ed. Training College, established in 2006, is a co-educational day college located in Alipurduar city of West Bengal. The affiliated college, covering an area of 1.15 acres, is dedicated to teacher education approved by the NCTE. The college received its accreditation from the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) and has a student enrolment of 400 and a faculty strength of 41.
The college is equipped with state-of-the-art infrastructure that acts to address the wholesome development of a student. There are separate hostel facilities for boys and girls, each having a capacity to accommodate 50 students. The library forms the knowledge hub of the institute with more than 5,000 books on specialised topics, journals, and reference books. Besides, it provides fully equipped labs like the Educational Psychology Lab, Science Curriculum Lab, Language Curriculum Lab, Social Science Curriculum Lab, Music Lab, and Computer Lab. The institute has a total of 25 computers that are networked and provided with internet access so that the students remain updated about recent developments in the field of technology regarding education. Then there is also a canteen for refreshments, parking space, a health centre with first-aid facilities, and an auditorium in which events and seminars are organised.
Eastern Dooars B.Ed. Training College currently offers three full-time courses: B.Ed., D.El.Ed, and M.Ed. The intake is 100 students in B.Ed. and D.El.Ed. and 50 students in the M.Ed. course. These courses are so arranged as to equip the students for the various responsibilities they will be called upon to undertake in educational service, beginning with the teaching in a primary school to the more responsible tasks involved in educational research and administration.
Admission to Eastern Dooars B.Ed. Training College is done on the basis of merit performance in qualifying examinations and/or entrance tests. Regarding the B.Ed. course, the admission is provided as per the admission policy framed up by the state government, UT administration, and affiliated university. Similarly, in the case of the M.Ed. course, selections are made as per policies decided by the state government, university, or UT administration. Likewise, admission in the D.El.Ed programme is done based on merit; the policy is issued as per the state government or UT administration.
