Fateh Bahadur Singh Shiv Shankar Singh Mahavidyalaya of Ballia is an affiliated college in Uttar Pradesh which aims to serve quality education to its students. Founded with a purpose to make. The college is recognised by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE), which made sure that the college follows the national standard of education. The student capacity is 1045 while the faculty size is 18; the institution ensures the provision of a favourable learning atmosphere. The college has 4 courses available in 4 degree streams: Arts, Commerce, and Science sectors and a special degree for would-be teachers called D.El.Ed.

It also provides departmental facilities that support educational functions such as practical sessions for learners of different courses. The institute offers BA/B.Sc. and different crossways and commerce Bachelor of Commerce programme like B.Com. Besides, the college has a two-year course called Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed). Though the number of seats differs from programme to programme, the approved intake capacity for the BA course is 80 students and for the D.El.Ed course, 50 students. They show that the institution strives to offer students a wide range of educational choices to enable them to get the education of their choice. 

The admission process, which is more or less direct, is based on the marks percentage obtained by the students, and therefore, it exhibits the fact that the institution aims at ‘education and nothing else but education’. In the general admission process for most of the undergraduates programmes like BA, B.Sc., various B.Com. streams, etc., the students are admitted on a merit basis depending on the percentage of marks obtained in the last qualifying examination. It also makes sure that the deserving students get a chance to study the courses of their choices and preferences. Unlike the other programmes, the D.El.Ed programme works on a different procedure altogether, and the admission is given purely on the merit basis depending on the marks in the qualifying examination and/or any entrance exam.
