    Government Arts College, Bangalore (GAC) is a college with a very old background but it was established after the 19th century. Co-educational and situated in Bangalore, at Dr. Ambedkar Veedhi, this institution is producing sensible and well-provided generations since the 1800s. The college which spans across a 5.5-acre campus is an affiliated college under the NAAC recognised under Act 2013. This college has the provision of admitting a total enrolment of 1,260 students at a time including its valued faculties of 48 members.  The college offers a broad course structure cutting across various fields of discipline . The college offers 19 courses through five degree programs, although the major disciplines are arts and commerce streams.

    Government Arts College also occupies itself in boasting various facilities that will help improve the learning abilities within students. College libraries are full of knowledge, in particular, the library of our college contains more than 80 thousands of books in different fields. It is funded by state government grants, UGC grants and grants given by the social welfare department. There is the provision of wireless facility in the entire campus so that student can avail the facility of internet. Concerning practical learning, the college has provided departmental laboratories. An auditorium is a hall used for events, seminars and promotes an active student culture on campus. It also has stewardship offices such as a cafeteria, a medical facility and facilities for sporting activities.

The institution offers general and specialised undergraduate and postgraduate programs and all these are full time. In the undergraduate level, GAC provides several BA programs with different fields with History Economics Political Science Sociology Geography and Journalism. For the postgraduate candidates, it provides the following MA courses such as Economics, English, History, Political Science, Sociology, Kannada and M.Com.
