Government Degree College for Women came into existence in 1979 in Anantnag, situated in Jammu and Kashmir, India. As an affiliated college located in a 4.5 acre compound, this institution of learning has trained women for more than forty years. The college has a student population of 6,434 and a teaching faculty of 121  thus, it provides 11 courses under 6 degree programmes. It has the privilege of being accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council abbreviated as NAAC. The college is a women’s institution and focuses on offering specialised education within Arts, Science, Commerce among others to empower women.
