The Government Engineering College, Challakere (GEC Challakere) is a young engineering college founded in 2020. This affiliated college is at Challakere, Chitradurga district of Karnataka but this college is benefitting the out and out growth in the stream of engineering. Affiliated to VTU and approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), GEC Challakere offer three niche B.Tech programs for meeting the industry demands of the rapidly growing technological world. Despite the fact that the college is in its infancy, however there are signs that it is likely to ensure quality technical education to engineer’s aspirants.

GEC Challakere has among it facilities that can be useful in the training of the students as described below. The college library plays the vital role for students who want to gain the necessary knowledge to complete their tasks. Well-equipped laboratories enable one to demonstrate the practical application of theoretical ideas that is was taught in the classroom. The concern of the college with the issue of relevance is well realized by having a good information technology facilities, so that students are acquainted with the current trends in technology. Further, sports facilities have been provided on the school compound so as to foster on the aspect of students gaining physical development apart from acquiring academic education.

As per the academic programs, GEC Challakere currently offered three full time B.Tech courses that is spread over four years. Some of these programs are B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering, B.Tech in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning and B.Tech in Automobile Engineering. The college is allowed to admit 60 students each to the AI & ML and Automobile Engineering indicating the college’s commitment towards providing the best learning environment to students by admitting only as many learners as can be managed conveniently within a classroom floor space.

Intake to the institution is mostly offered through the Karnataka Common Entrance Test also known as KCET which is a test that is taken by students who intend to pursue a course in engineering in the state of Karnataka.
