Government First Grade College, Ajjampura (GFGCA) is an ISO certified university which was founded in the year of 1988. This affiliated college is situated at Ajjampura, Tarikere Taluk, Chickmagalur District, Karnataka; the college has been, catering to the needs of the people for more than three decades. Affiliated to the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), GFGCA presents a vast spectrum of undergraduate programmes in a number of disciplines. 

The college has a very large complex having 3.26 acres of land and overall that college have 387 students. The institute has a dedicated set of a faculty of 12 members ensuring proper student/teacher ratio and quality education to the students. GFGCA boasts of good facilities and infrastructure in to motivate its students and adequately facilitate their learning process. The library,the independent library of college has a rich collection of over 18000 books of various fields. It has both, reading section and reference section, and it has been automated with E-Granthalaya software. It has also access to latest publications covering arts, commerce, business management, languages, Literature, General reference books & Competitive examinations etc. For those who have interest in technology the college has a computer laboratory with 5 computers and a network laboratory that offers internet connection through Wi-Fi. Students with faculty can afford yourself basic NLIST for usage of UGC-Infonet accessing on-line important resources for study and research works.

The college has 13 undergraduate courses in total, spanning 6 degrees programs, so students with very different interests will find something to their liking here. These are Full time programs in Arts Commerce Computer Applications and Sciences etc. The Bachelor of Arts (BA) Potential combinations include; History/Film and television studies, history / economics, history/political science, history/sociology, history/optional Kannada or English. They offer a program called Bachelor of Business Management (BBM) for students who show much interest in careers in management. The Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com) program addresses needs of students who would like to pursue a career in business. 

The college also provides a degree course in computer applications, called BCA for those aspiring to make a career in the IT industry The college also has a course in social work, known as BSW for those with special interest in doing social work. Science stream allows B.Sc courses such as Chemistry, Botany and Zoology; Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics; or Physics, Mathematics, and Computer Science.
