Government First Grade College for Women, K.R. Nagar admitted its first students in 2009 and is situated in K.R.Nagar Krishnarajanagara, Mysore – Karnataka. This college is a women-only college; however, it is affiliated to this university, but its quality has been accredited by the NAAC. SC: Located in a small plot size of 1.1 acre, this college avails 10 courses in 6 degree programs which are further spread across 882 students strength. The college has 17 skilled and committed teachers, and thus the college has a student/teacher ratio that allows personal attention while imparting knowledge.

This college proudly lays down various facilities that would improve the teaching and learning process as well as the students’ personality. The center of any learning material is the school library; it has more than 12600 books, 50 educational CD and DVD sets, 10 Magazines, and 10 Newspaper subscriptions. This indeed is a large array of compilations that embraces a broad range of topics in order to make a student carry out his research studies comfortably. Science laboratories at the college are well equipped and fitted with all the necessary amenities necessary in practicals in Science courses. For technology based learning the college has a Computer Lab with a capacity to accommodate forty systems and the students go in batches of twenty five in order to handle practical sessions. The college makes sure that each and every department has its own system which has most of them being connected to the internet and Wi-Fi amenities to promote the congregation of students and staff with computer literacy.

Government First Grade College for Women, K.R. Nagar provides total curriculum spans right from undergraduate to postgraduate levels of education. The college offers ten full length courses in different fields. In undergraduate level, the students can choose B.A. combinations such as History, Economics and Political Science, History Political Science and Sociology, Psychology, Sociology and Geography etc. B.Com and BBA are available for commerce and business students while B.Sc Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics is designed for science lovers. At postgraduate level the institution offers M.Com and M.Sc in Chemistry which prepares highly qualified students who seek exposure in these areas.

The college offers number of courses on the basis of the merit of the candidates in the qualifying examination for admission to the college. For our post graduate programmes such as the M.Com and M.Sc Chemistry courses, we only offer admission to those students who have completed their bachelor’s degree programmes in the related fields. The admission policy of the institution also supports the institution’s emphasis on women’s education admitting only female candidates in all its programs.
