Government Home Science College, Holenarsipur (GHSCH), popularly known in Hassan, Karnataka, The college provides undergraduate and postgraduate courses for Home Science, Commerce, and Computer Science, and Applications. GHSCH has a rational and simple admission procedure with an intention of providing quality education for the aspiring students.  The admission process at GHSCH is expected to begin somewhere in the month of May and June after the announcement of 10+2 results for the academic year starting in August-September.  

Typically, the eligibility criteria require the successful completion of 10+2 or the equivalent from a recognized board, to be eligible for admission into GHSCH programs. For undergraduate programs, students are required to have passed their higher secondary examinations including subjects relevant to their chosen course of study. For any PG program like-M.Com, applicants should have completed their graduation in the relevant stream from a recognized university.

Application Process

1. Advertisement of Admissions: The college advertisement for admission of the session through various media sources and its official website.

2. Application Forms: Candidates need to obtain application forms and fill them out. This could either be downloaded from the college website or could be collected in person at the college admission office.

3. Submission of Documents: In addition to the application form, candidates are required to submit documents that generally include:

• Mark sheets and certificates from 10th and 12th grades
• Transfer Certificate from the previous institution
• Character Certificate
• Caste Certificate, if applicable
• Passport-size photographs

4. Submission of Application: The completed application form along with the required documents should be submitted in person to the college office on or before the last date.

5. Preparation of the Merit List: Based on the candidates' performance in the qualifying examination and other criteria specified for each program, merit lists are prepared.

6. Counseling and Seat Allotment: Shortlisted candidates may be invited for counseling where seats would be allotted based on merit and their availability.

7. Payment of Fees: The selected candidates will be required to pay admission fees within the stipulated time period following which an admission will stand confirmed.

8. Final Document Verification: After the admission process, the final verification of the documents shall be conducted by the college.

Degree wise Admission Process

BA Programs: Various BA programs are offered, including BA in Optional English, Psychology and Family Resource Management; BA in History, Family Resource Management and Optional Kannada; and BA in Psychology, Human Development and Optional Kannada. For these programs the most likely method of admission would be based on the performance of candidates in the 10+2 examination, with preference for students who studied relevant subjects in the higher secondary level.

B.Com: The B.Com program is catered to students focusing on a career in business and finance. Admission to B.Com generally depends on the merit list generated on the basis of an applicant's performance in the Class XII final year, giving preference for Commerce students.

B.Sc: GHSCH has B.Sc. in Chemistry, Zoology, and Food Science. The admission would be based on the score of the candidate in the 10+2 examination, majorly focusing on science subjects, especially Biology and Chemistry.

BCA: The BCA program is administered for students interested in computer science and applications. It is likely that the admission of students in BCA shall be based on the compilation of a merit list according to the scores got by the candidate in the 10+2, with preference to students who have studied Mathematics and Computer Science in their higher secondary education.

M.Com: Admission to the postgraduate M.Com program shall generally be based on performance in the undergraduate degree in Commerce or any associated discipline. The College may either select the candidates on a merit basis or test for admission to M.Com.
