The Government Institute of Advanced Studies in Education, Ajmer was set in the year 1941 and it is one among the premier educational institutions situated in Ajmer of Rajasthan. This affiliated college, recognised by National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) is a dedicated teacher education college. Located on a 14.65 acre campus, it has adequate space that can foster academic growth of the student. The institute has a total strength of 305 students and 17 faculty members which helps in delivering focused attention towards every student. The institute currently offers two full-time courses: providing courses at the undergraduate level known as Bachelors in Education and at the postgraduate level or Masters in Education.

Boys and girls live in different hostels which are situated in the campus, offering convenient accommodation for all outstation students. The Government Institute of Advanced Studies in Education in Ajmer offers two major academic programmes related to education. The B.Ed programme is a two-year full time programme having an approved inter from one hundred and fifty students. This programme is intended to produce trained teachers to teach at the secondary and higher secondary levels. Another two-year full time course is the M. Ed (Master of Education) which has an approved intake capacity of forty students. This is an emphasised programme, which caters for learners who are in a position of pursuing mastery degree in educational theories and practice, intended for leadership or research careers in education.

Many Government Institute of Advanced Studies in Education, Ajmer offer admission on merit bases as per the rules and regulation of the state government, UT administration and the university to which the institute is affiliated. The B.Ed programme that is being offered by the colleges also require the students to secure the minimum qualifying percentage in the entrance test plus marks secured in qualifying examination.
