Government Law College, Salem, was founded in the year 2021. This is an institution that aims to produce future lawyers in Salem, Tamil Nadu. The college, relatively young, is still actively developing, but it has already become an important part of the educational environment of young legal professionals, where it prepares two types of legal professionals.
Government Law College, Salem, is affiliated with Tamil Nadu Dr. Ambedkar Law University (TNDALU). The college campus is located at the Government High School Campus at Maniyanur, Salem, and thus promotes a favourable learning atmosphere for law in particular. Some of the facts about the size of the campus are still unknown, but the college has made it possible for the students to get some important amenities that are very important in their college lifestyle. Tutorial and practical: In set hours each week throughout the year, the library provides a legal resource base for students to go into depth in case books, journals, and seek references. One of the great amenities of the college is the Moot Court, through which the students get the best practical session on the procedure followed in the court and the manner to present the arguments. There are other facilities in the Government Law College in the form of sports amenities, which are also very useful to people who intend to balance between work and other aspects of life by exercising regularly to enhance brain power.
Government Law College, Salem, currently offers two comprehensive law programmes: A traditional three-year LLB programme and a five-year integrated BA LLB programme. Each of the courses is full-time in line with the college’s mission of offering intense and comprehensive legal education. The LLB programme costs ₹4,377 per year and is ideal to study for graduates who want to build a legal profession. This programme of BA LLB integrated, which costs ₹7,295 per year, is more comprehensive than the LLM programme, and it is meant for learners directly from high school, with emphasis on arts and law education. The college has a strength of 167 students per session and 5 faculty members, making the essential student-faculty ratio ideal, as it ensures maximum attention given to students.
The procedures for admission of the candidates in the Government Law College, Salem, are simple and are based on merit. Since the LLB and BA LLB are common for the faculty, counselling is adopted for the admission process, where the criteria include academic performance.
