Government Mizoram Law College, Aizawl, setup in the year 1983, is a legal study centre situated in the interior part of the Aizawl, Mizoram. This affiliated college having got its recognition from the Bar Council of India (BCI) for delivering legal education. It is NAAC accredited and provides quality college education to the students in and around the college campus. Spread across a small plot of 1.38 acres, it is accommodating 167 students and is staffed with 8 committed teachers. It is providing only one course of its specialisations to produce professional legal education to the students interested to become lawyer in this region.
Government Mizoram Law College offers a variety of amenities that it considers useful to facilitate the learning process of the learners. The library, which forms an indispensable part of legal education, boasts of an area of over 1997 sq.mts. of book-stack space and a book capacity of over 12,773 volumes, in addition to containing numerous journals and periodicals. It has different reading areas for male and female students and faculty, one which encourages effective studying. In the area of technology, the college uses computers and owns a computer laboratory with twenty computers, plans to launch a basic computer programme. A language laboratory with 10 computer systems and different language programmes improve the interaction of students, expanding their language experiences.
Government Mizoram Law College offers a course, and it is only Bachelor of Laws (LLB) programme. This full time programme mainly targets first year students and runs for three years and thus admits 60 students as an indication of the college’s desire to offer quality legal education. The LLB programme aims at making sure that the students acquire vital understanding of different fields within and at parity with law so that they can practice in the legal field.
