Government Polytechnic commenced in the year 2008 at Belur in Karnataka, and this institution is one of the largest technical colleges. This is an affiliated college recognised by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and imparts education in different fields of engineering. Located on 5 acres of land, the institute currently admits a student capacity of 415 and has a faculty of twenty-two. At present, GP Belur comprises four diploma programmes and each of them is tailor-made with different branches of engineering. The idea of full technical education is clearly visible in diploma courses offered by the institute for which the institution prepares students for successful careers in engineering fields.
Government Polytechnic is proud of the fact that it provides adequate learning amenities to improve the learning results of the students. The beauty of it is that members are privileged to access a well-endowed library, the stock of which is ideal for any academic pursuit. A significant amount of symbolic and practical laboratory and workshop facilities enable the students to acquire both theoretical and practical experience. Another aspect I must add is that college also has really strong information technologies which help the students to be in tune with modern technologies. The campus has arrangements for boys' and girls' hostels to ensure outstation students can live comfortably on the campus. College canteen serves as a place where the college community has its food needs met; first aid services are provided within the college through the health centre.
Government Polytechnic, Belur provides four full-time diploma courses, out of which the duration of every course is three years. Students find them suitable for the different branches of engineering, thus making them prepare for different career paths. The institute has a total approved intake of 240 students, and each course offered is taken with 60 students at most, such as Diploma in Mechanical engineering and Diploma in civil engineering. This controlled intake helps in ensuring that students get adequate time and good-quality education, as those enrolled get the individual attention to be offered.
Nevertheless, all the details concerning the admission process are not stated, and normally, polytechnic institutes admit applicants based on their performance in the relevant entrance examination or academic achievements from previous education. Since it is an institute that offers technical education at the diploma level, the institute offers the educational training needed to develop a foundation of the engineering disciplines. Hence, Government Polytechnic, Belur has been imparting its message through its range of facilities and devoted faculty in crafting the future of the engineers within the region.
