The school was founded in 1955 under the Department of Science and Technology of the Government of Bihar with the goal of increasing technical education participation. Bhagalpur polytechnic Admission Process:
Candidates must have completed 10th or equivalent from a recognised Board of Education in order to enrol in Government Polytechnic Bhagalpur's Diploma programmes. For all Diploma Courses, the state administers its own Entrance Exam, and admission is based on a merit list.
