The college functions under the management of the Government of Karnataka and is affiliated with the Directorate of Technical Education, Bangalore. Government Polytechnic, Channapatna is approved by AICTE. The college offers diploma courses in departments of Science, Civil Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Electronics and Communications Engineering, Automobile Engineering and Mechanical Engineering. Government Polytechnic, Channapatna courses are offered in full-time mode. Government Polytechnic, Channapatna admissions are based on the merit of the students. It is a co-educational institution.
