About Government Polytechnic College, Kathua

Affiliated college Government Polytechnic College, Kathua started in 2012 is located in Jammu and Kashmir, India. Located and spread over 7.5 acres at Barnoti, Dist.Kathua-Delhi Bypass, National Highway (NH-1A), this institution’s sole aim is to impart technical education. Recognised by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), the college offers three diploma programmes in engineering specialities. Government Polytechnic College, Kathua, admitted a total of 57 students and has a faculty of 5 students ensuring a learner centred education for intending poly technical students aspiring to become engineers.

To enhance learning college has laid good infrastructure for student to have balance between study and other activities. The library currently boasts over 3,500 books and has both storage and reading sections and access to newspapers and magazines. Hostel facilities are available for boys and girls thus making it possible for those coming from far places to have comfortable accommodation. Lively with modern IT facility developed and fair extent of departmental laboratories are available for practical demonstration purposes. Sport amenities that include grounds and gymnasiums for sports indoor and outdoor are provided to the students for recreation do fitness. 

Thus, the Government Polytechnic College, Kathua provides three full time diploma courses in engineering only such as mechanical engineering. These are programmes aimed at offering the learners hands on training and at the same time imparting to them the all important academic knowledge in their areas of specialisation. Currently the college has got total approved intake capacity of 150 students across all the courses offered by the institution to ensure that appropriate student ratio to the faculty for better teaching emerge. All courses are three-year full-time programmes to give the students ample academic input in their field of specialisation.
