Government Polytechnic College in Kupwara was established in the year 2012 in Jammu and Kashmir, India. This is a technical institution that is recognised by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and provides diplomas in various fields of engineering. The college is located on an 8-acre campus and currently offers a total intake capacity of 85 students and a faculty strength of 5 members only. 

The Government Polytechnic College also has several infrastructures that enable students to study and practise their lessons. The institution is endowed with functional laboratories for various departments, where students practise their practical experiences. On campus there is a library through which students can borrow books, course materials, and even textbooks if there are any. Moreover, the college is provided with IT facilities such as a computer laboratory to enable the students to undertake computer courses that prepare them in today's advanced software relevant to their faculties.

As of now, GPC Kupwara offers three full-time diploma courses that have a span of three years at the most. The total approved intake for these courses is one hundred and twenty students. The college offers a Diploma in Automobile Engineering for 60 students, Diploma in Civil Engineering for 30 students, and Diploma in Mechanical Engineering for 60 students. These programmes are intended to provide the students with necessary professional and academic training in various areas of their interest in automotive and mechanical engineering careers.

The college may possibly take into account previous academic performance in relevant subjects, and it may offer scholarships after administering entrant examinations and/or interviews.
