Government Polytechnic Fatehpur, established in 1984 by the Government of Uttar Pradesh, initially offered two diploma courses. In 1994, the institution expanded its offerings to include additional engineering diploma programmes. All courses at GP Fatehpur are approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). Government Polytechnic Fatehpur campus, which covers 18 acres, is one of the oldest polytechnic institutes in Uttar Pradesh, and it exclusively provides Diploma courses. 

Prospective students must meet specific eligibility criteria and possess a valid JEECUP scorecard to apply for these programmes. If someone takes the railway route to reach the GP Fatehpur campus then they have to board at Bhitaura station which is only 6.9 km from the college campus. One can take public transport service from the railway station to reach the GP Fatehpur campus conveniently.
