Government Polytechnic Kanda, Bageshwar was established in the year 2006 as an affiliated College at Uttarakhand. The technical institute is approved by All India Council for Technical Education and offers diploma courses in engineering. The institution of the polytechnic is within a 5-acre compact campus. The enrolment number in the polytechnic is 56 students, with a faculty strength of 2. Currently, the Institution offers two full-time Diploma courses with specialisations in Mechanical Engineering and Civil Engineering, catering to the interest of such students who would like to pursue their interests in practical, industry-oriented technical education.

Government Polytechnic Kanda, Bageshwar offers courses in a short range of focused areas. The college presently offers two full-time diploma programs. The intake for the Diploma in Mechanical Engineering is 40 and for Diploma in Civil Engineering is 30, so the total number of seats for both the courses will be 70. Both these diplomas are three-year full-time courses in which good grounding in their respective fields is provided to the students.
