About Government Polytechnic, Kohima

An affiliated college, Government Polytechnic, was set up in Kohima in 1994. It is an AICTE-approved institution offering a Diploma in engineering disciplines. Located at a 15-acre plot beside IG Stadium, the polytechnic conducts a total intake of 169 students and has a faculty of 19 members. The institute offers two full-time diploma courses recognised by the government of Punjab in Civil Engineering, 30 approved intakes, and Computer Science Engineering, 30 approved intakes. To future foe the engineering needs of this region, Government Polytechnic Kohima is determined to offer quality technical education to the students.

It has various features to provide a conducive learning environment and students’ overall development. An AV room with a hydrogen fuel cell, in addition to spacious, well-furnished facilities that accommodate hundreds of volumes and journals, which make learning and research easier.Availability of internet; This college provides internet access throughout the campus by Wi-Fi technology to meet the needs of the students,   nd access via the internet. Other general facilities available are departmental laboratories, of which there is a Communication Lab with recorded audio and video systems. The institute also needs an auditorium for different programmes and seminars, making the university campus very active. A cafeteria prepares and offers healthy and cheap meals, and a girls’ hostel offers accommodation for female learners. 

Government Polytechnic, Kohim, offers two diploma courses, both of which are regular schemes having a period of three years. The institute has a total of one hundred sixty-nine students for all its programmes; however, the two diplcoursesofferffers fifty-six places.
