About Government Polytechnic, Proddatur
The Government Polytechnic Proddatur, Andhra Pradesh was established in 1959 to impart knowledge in the technical field. Govt. Polytechnic Proddatur is affiliated College of State Board of Technical Education and Training, Hyderabad. It is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). Government Polytechnic Proddatur, AP started with 3 main engineering branches: civil, mechanical, and electrical engineering. Each branch had an initial intake of 40 students. In 1985, a fourth branch was added, Electronics & Communication Engineering, with an intake of 50 students. In 2006, a fifth branch, Diploma in Computers, was added with an intake of 40 students.
At present the Govt. Polytechnic Proddatur, Andhra Pradesh offers 5 courses with increased seat intake, ranging from 60-180. Admission to the courses offered by Government Polytechnic Proddatur is contingent upon the candidate's ranking in the POLYCET examination. The institute’s polytechnic was selected as one of the ten polytechnics to start a second section in 2008-2009, offering IT, ECE, EEE, and Sandwich branches.
