Government Polytechnic, Rudraprayag is a premier technical institution in Uttarakhand, India and was established in the year 2005. The college affiliated to it lies on the Badrinath National Highway-58 and is also approved by AICTE, New Delhi. The institute has a campus sprawling over 7 acres of land, offering quite a conducive ambiance for technical education. Total enrolment stands at 40 and faculty strength at 7, which ensures very personalized attention and excellence in education. Government Polytechnic is fully equipped with all modern facilities to pursue its various academic programmes.

A well-equipped library at the heart of the campus will be the nerve centre for creativity and innovation in learning and research. The 1000 sq ft library can house 50 students and has a rich and diverse stock of over 500 books and 20 CDs/DVDs on a wide spectrum of technical subjects. Furthermore, this lab is supported by totally the newest in IT infrastructure. The lab can house more than 60 of the newest computers, both desktops and laptops. All of these are connected through high-speed internet. This high-tech setup will enable the students to learn and employ the latest hardware and software to face this constantly changing technological scenario. Government Polytechnic, Rudraprayag offers many dia-focused diploma courses that have been designed in every conceivable manner to meet the burgeoning requirement of skillful technicians in different branches of engineering.

The Institute offers three full-time diploma programmes currently:  Diploma in Computer Science and Engineering, Diploma in Civil and Environmental Engineering, and Diploma in Electrical Engineering. All these programmes are of three years in duration that provide an in-depth knowledge base to the students in their respective areas of study. The intake capacity for Computer Science and Engineering is 40 and for Civil and Environmental Engineering it is 60. In addition, students are given a total of 60 seats in the Electrical Engineering course for a total of 160 seats.
