Government Polytechnic Saharsa is one of the oldest polytechnics in Bihar. With a history of 56 years, the institute has a long list of alumni. The college is approved by AICTE and state board of technical education. The institute functions under the Department of Science and Technology, Govt. of Bihar. GP Saharsa courses include diploma in engineering courses in electronics engineering, computer science engineering, civil engineering, electrical engineering and mechanical engineering. GP Saharsa admissions are done on the basis of Diploma Certificate Entrance Competitive Examination (DCECE) conducted by Bihar Combined Entrance Competitive Examination Board. Aspiring candidates should ensure they meet the GP Saharsa eligibility criteria before applying to the courses.

Government Polytechnic Saharsa is located  in the Adarsh Nagar area of the city of Saharsa in the state of Bihar. The institute is located at a distance of just 2 Km from the city railway station. It can easily be reached by auto rickshaws and other local transport within the city.
