Government Polytechnic, Sukma, which came into existence on July 18, 2013, is a renowned technical institution situated at Kumharras, District Sukma, Chhattisgarh. This affiliated college is recognised by the All India Council for Technical Education, New Delhi, hence providing quality education in the faculty of engineering. Being a professional institute that offers vocational training and instruction in technical trades, the institute provides three diploma courses taking a total of 57 students in all courses. It has a dedicated team of faculties comprising 13 members to prepare the future generation of professional workforce. 

Government Polytechnic, Sukma, boasts of well-equipped facilities that supplement learning for the student to ensure effectiveness. The laboratories are equipped with basic instruments whereby students can conduct very important experiments besides training them on the basics of the various fields they intend to practice. The computer laboratory has up-to-date software and hardware installations accompanied by a high-bandwidth broadband internet connection. This digital infrastructure makes it possible that students have up-to-date knowledge within their discipline. The library is the storehouse of knowledge that consists of a vast collection of standard books and provides the E-Library CS and other means for intensive research and study. For the development of students in a balanced manner, the college also offers facilities for indoor and outdoor games for keeping the students physically fit and active besides imbibing studies. 

Government Polytechnic, Sukma, has three diploma courses on offer, and all these courses are full-time programmes each having a span of three years. It currently offers a Diploma in Civil Engineering, Diploma in Electrical Engineering, and Diploma in Mechanical Engineering. Ideally, these courses have been approved to have an enrolment of 60 students, and the institute ensures that the ratio between students and teachers is favourable to enhance the learning process. This diverse range of engineering disciplines provides the students with an opportunity to select a discipline that interests them.
