Government Polytechnic Uttarkashi was established in 1975. GP Uttarkashi is affiliated with the Directorate of Technical Education Garhwal and approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). The institute offers diploma courses in four specialisations. 

GP Uttarkashi courses include a Diploma in Civil Engineering, a Diploma in Electrical Engineering, a Diploma in Electronics Engineering, and a D.Pharma. The duration of diploma courses at GP Uttarkashi ranges from 2 to 3 years. GP Uttarkashi admission is based on merit. Students are required to fulfil the minimum eligibility criteria to apply for GP Uttarkashi admission.  

The institute offers many facilities to students. GP Uttarkashi facilities include spacious classrooms, a well-stocked library, sports and games facilities, and many more facilities. The institute has a placement department. GP Uttarkashi placement cell arranges a placement drive every year for placement recruitment. Students get jobs in various fields during the GP Uttarkashi placement drive. In 2024-2025 a total of 48 students got placement in reputed companies, and a total of 127 students enrolled themselves for placement.
