E-governance initiatives in India expanded in the mid-1990s, emphasizing citizen-centric services and signaling the country's shift towards a new era in computer science and information technology. The Government of Gujarat established Government Science College, Valod in 1989 to improve higher education in the tribal areas of Surat district (now Tapi district), aiming to broaden access to knowledge and educational opportunities. The college offers three-year graduate programs in B.Sc. (Computer Science) and B.Sc. (Electronics), affiliated with Veer Narmad South Gujarat University, Surat. Since its inception, thousands of students have benefited from these programs, securing esteemed positions in industries and academia worldwide. In response to growing demand, the college also launched B.Sc. programs in Mathematics, Chemistry, Botany, and Zoology in 2015.

Government Science College, Valod, an affiliated College of Veer Narmad South Gujarat University, Surat, provides two degree eight courses, admissions for several  B.Sc in Computer Science, Electronics, Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics, Botany, and Zoology. Under the self-finance category, there is also a BCA self-finance programme available.
