Government Shivalik College Naya Nangal located in Naya Nangal, Punjab was established in 1979 a multi-facilitated sophisticated educational institution. This is a co-educational institution with a large campus size of 16.5 acres having been established over 40 years ago to prepare youths for their future. The college is self financed and has been accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) for quality education in the region. Total enrolment of the college is comprised around 1,156 and the faculty of the college is of 35 members and the college provides 8 different courses in 6 different degree programmes for various faculties of the students as per their choice and their goals and aspirations.

The college boasts of the fact that it offers a comprehensive education environment together with updated facilities to address academic as well as character aspects for the learners. Students are able to make good use of a good library and information center that encourages reading and research. Government Shavlik college provides all types of undergraduate and postgraduate courses for various streams and subjects. The college imparts six full- time undergraduate courses viz BA, B.Sc Medical, B.Sc Non-Medical, B.Com and BCA besides offering two post graduate courses namely MA Economics and MA Political Science. Moreover, they have a Post Graduate Diploma in Computer Applications (PGDCA), which also prepares its student for employments since the institution values the growing technology industry.
