Government Women’s Polytechnic College, Kaimanam at Thiruvananthapuram district was started in the year 1961. This college is a women’s college affiliated to BU which is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). It aims to cater the needs of 642 total students enrolment while employing only 26 members of faculty, the college presently teaches the following four diploma programmes.

The college has numerous amenities to cater for its educational functions that are of the contemporary hospitality. A well stocked library has a collection of about 17000 books and is equipped with the KOHA Integrated Library Management Software. The cafeteria which is fully stocked provide hygienically prepared and fairly prices meals for students and staff. There is a ladies hostels in the college campus meant for outstation students for a strength of up to fifty eight students and a resident warden. The college has invested in information technology and has both high speed internet connection and a common internet facility available to all students and members of staff. Government Women’s Polytechnic College, Kaimanam provides four three-year full time diploma programmes. These are Diploma in Computer Engineering, Diploma in Commercial Practice, Diploma in Electronics Engineering and Diploma in Instrumentation Engineering.
