Himachal Institute of Education, Solan, came into existence in the year 1999 andis one of the leading teacher training colleges in Solan, Himachal Pradesh. This affiliated college recognised by NCTE offers excellent education in teacher education in Sangamner, in a campus that is free from noise and pollution. Located on 4 acres of land, the institute offers education to a total of 50 students and thus provides a close-knit environment. At present the institute has a faculty strength of 5 faculty members who are committed professional educators, which enables each student to receive plenty of one-on-one attention. This co-educational college provides a single degree, which will enhance the college’s concentrated efforts in the preparation of teachers.

Himachal Institute of Education is affiliated with Himachal Pradesh University (HPU), Shimla. Himachal Institute of Education has a variety of facilities that would interestingly transform the learning environment of the institute. The school has more than 2500 books and different national and international journals, and all are overseen by professional staff. Physical development: sports facilities for students are in place. It also has an auditorium for functions and seminars to enhance its student activity on the college campus.

Himachal Institute of Education, Solan, currently has only one course – the Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.). This course is studied full-time over two years, and the approved number of students’ intake is 50. The B.Ed programme is one that aims at producing professional teachers who will be equipped with the human, personal and career assets to enable them to practise effectively in the teaching profession.

The admission to the B.Ed programme offered at Himachal Institute of Education is done through an examination. It is mandatory to write this test, and admissions are given according to the score of the test. The direct admission to college is coordinated by the central admission committee of the affiliated university to ensure proper and pro forma admission criteria.
