Ideal College of Education, Thane, was set up in 2006 and is a private undergraduate college to impart education to the future generation teachers. This coeducation institution is situated in Kalyan, Maharashtra with an area space of 6 acres that provides a favourable studying environment. The college is approved by National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) nowadays it is having total strength of 50 students & having 6 faculty members.

For its part, Ideal College of Education has a variety of amenities that are intended to facilitate teaching and learning process among its students. A humanities library also provide student and teaching/learning resource by stocking adequate books on teacher education, other books and encyclopaedias. The Teaching Hospital Library has section for inter loan service for students to borrow books and other learning materials in addition to having a section for accessing national and international magazines, periodicals, journals among others. The college is still in the process of working on establishing a digital library to complement the existing ones as well. To support laboratories, Physical and Biological Sciences are specially provided by the college, all the required apparatus and equipment including those recommended by NCTE and SCERT are well existing. The access to the best and latest infrastructure facilities are available for students through a computer center with twenty terminals.

Ideal College of Education has three courses for students. These are Distant Education councils: Diploma in Education (D.Ed), Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed) as well as Diploma in Teacher Education (D.T.Ed) that takes two academic years. We have total 50 seats in D.Ed programme and in D.T.Ed programme there is hundred seats only. All courses offered are laden with development in pedagogy and education practices with view to producing good teachers in the profession.

For the D.T. Ed programme, a common merit list is prepared depending upon the marks obtained in standard XII, arranging in order of merit. This makes the process clear and guarantee that deserving individual who wishes to be a teacher has a chance to achieve the feat.
