Imayam College of Education,Kannanur, Tiruchirappalli started in the year 2006 is a co –education college affiliated to the Tamil Nadu Teachers Education University Chennai. This affiliated college is recognised by National Assessment and Accreditation Council-NAAC && affiliated to National Council for Teacher Education-NCTE. Located in a five point one acre plot, this institute has been teaching two courses in total and offers two degree programmes. Imayam College of Education offers two full-time courses: , a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) and a Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed). B.Ed programme is set with an authorised strength of 100 students out of which 50 students are available in D.El.Ed programme. They both take two years to complete and offer ample preparation for professional educators. The total number of students enrolled in all courses is one hundred and ninety two, and this is in an effort that the college maintains small classes in order to encourage effective learning.

At Imayam College of Education, admission is based on the marks scored in the qualifying and / or entrance tests. Admission policy of the college is in consonance with the rules and regulation of the Tamil Nadu state government and the University to which the college is affiliated. In case of B.Ed programme, the candidate’s performance in the qualifying examination, entrance test or any other method as deemed suitable from time to time, shall be taken into consideration. Likewise, D.El.Ed programme admission is also based on the merit of the candidate in the qualifying examination and/or entrance examination as per the norms framed by the state government/ UT administration.
