Indian Academy of Teachers Education, Barasat was initiated in 2014 in Koyara, Kadambagachi, Kolkata, West Bengal. This affiliated college is certified by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE), supporting the quality of the teacher education. Spread over a small area of 0.992 acres the academy has 199 students and 8 members of faculty. The qualifications provided by the institute include one subject specific qualification specifically in teacher education to produce competent trainers.

The Indian Academy of Teachers Education, Barasat has installed different facilities in order to improve the understanding capacity of their students. The library plays the productive role of resource centre by offering the constituency access to educational materials and literature. For theotraining, the college has preserved departmental laboratories where students are trained alongside with practical sessions. There is provision of an auditorium for use in occasions, seminars and other academic activities. Indian Academy of Teachers Education, Barasat, currently offers one full-time course: The B.Ed programme or Bachelor of Education programme. This two year programme has an approved intake of one hundred seats which immediately indicates the directorate’s policy that the institute should only take manageable numbers of students in each programme in order to enhance one on one teaching and learning. The B.Ed course aims at producing professional teacher educators capable of teaching and handling the learners in current society classrooms.
