Hello!

With a rank of 12247, IHM is difficult to get. Though, you can get in private colleges easily and colleges like Guru Nanak Institute of Hotel Management.

IHM vs IIHM: depends on your choice.

One is the government college, whereas IIHM is a private college. Therefore IHM fees is low when compared to IIHM. The placements are better at IHM when compared to IIHM. But then IIHM offers international exposure at an early age. The IIHM campuses are beautifully built.

Both are at par in this education sector. But definitely if you ain't getting the best of IHMs, it's better to join an IIHM.

Hello student,
With a rank of around 7,200 you have chances of procuring a seat in the following IHM's when comparing the results of previous years
  • SIHM Hamirpur
  • SIHM Kozhikode
  • SIHM Kurukshetra
  • SIHM yamuna nagar, Haryana
  • SIHM Durgapur
  • SIHM Telangana
  • SIHM panipat
  • SIHm Pondicherry
the above mentioned institutes are state government IHM's which you can get a seat in the first round itself.  Also, one thing to keep in mind is that scores and ranks vary each year with difficulty level of the question paper and availability of seats. However you stand on the safe zone only for getting government colleges.
Good luck

  • SIHM Kozhikode
  • SIHM Kurukshetra
  • SIHM Hamirpur
  • SIHM yamuna nagar, Haryana

However you can go through the following link to know about the cut off's and ranks for the previous years and calculate your chances of selection

According to previous years cut off rank analysis(which is subjective changes every year) though you can get ihm's such as hajipur, srinagar ,shillong chances of getting gurdaspur too etc but getting gandhinagar and bhopal is tough if we look at previous years results

  • for gandhinagar cut off rank in 2018 in round 2 was 4172 and in 3rd round was 4657(no-meagre chances)
  • for bhopal cut off rank in 2018 in round 2 was 5451 and in 3rd round was 6232(no-meagre chances)
  • both of the cut off ranks mentioned above didnt changed much in 2017 too.

After the 1st round of seat allotment, if you dont get any of the seats then you will be asked for online choice modification in 2nd round and 2nd round allotment will happen  ,your admission won't be canceled , same process will be continued for round 3 and after that admission's will be closed, also after 1st round allotment happens keep a tab on each and every update from their official website:

Here are few brief snippets which i took from NCHM counselling official source to clear your doubt futher

  • Online Registration is mandatory for all eligible candidates to be considered for seat allotment in the 1st and 2nd round of Counselling. Eligible candidate are required to register ONLINE through Internet (http://www.nchmcounslling.nic.in) from places convenient to them during the specified period. The procedure to be followed is described here.  Access the website www.nchmcounslling.nic.in and click on online Registration and choice filling.
  • On the basis of choices submitted seats would be alloted for the first round, seat allotment will be done for the 1st round, candidates who have been alloted seats for the first round would have to report at the center for seat confirmation and document verification for 1st round
  • After this 2nd round of counselling will start in which:No fresh registrations would be allowed in the 2nd round of Counselling. Only the Candidates who have registered in the 1st round will be eligible in this round of counselling.
  • Though candidates whose seats got cancelled in 1st round , those who got seat but want to sit for 2nd round two etc etc apply for 2nd round . For registered candidates who are not allotted any seat in the first round of seat allotment. These candidates are permitted to change their earlier submitted choices through internet. If candidates not submitting fresh choices in this round then, their choices submitted during the first round of counselling would be considered for seat allotment, for second round  .
  • Though i have mentioned counselling criteria above i am attaching offical NCHM counselling process pdf taken from their official website for furthur reference and help https://nchmcounselling.nic.in/nchminfo/Handler/FileHandler.ashx?i=File&ii=84&iii=Y

Hope this helps.
