About Institute of Land and Disaster Management, Thiruvananthapuram

The Institute of Land and Disaster Management (ILDM), the State Training Institute for the Department of Revenue and Disaster Management, is located in the serene 6.76 acres campus within the Trivandrum Corporation limits. The Institute has been catering to the training needs of officials from the Departments of Revenue and Survey since 1996, the year of its inception. The Institute also caters the training needs of the general public and NGOs, in addition to the officials, in the field of disaster management, since the enactment of the Disaster Management Act in 2005. To impart a professional approach to training, the ILDM has finalized its VISION, MISSION and OBJECTIVES at its 42nd Executive Committee held in August 2016.

The beautiful walkway and the garden around it give a unique ambience for instilling environment-friendly training in the participants. There are three air-conditioned classrooms and a state-of-the-art smart for holding a variety of on-campus training programmes at the Institute. The institute also offers good hostel facilities for both male and female trainees and can accommodate 51  female and 118 male trainees at a time inside the campus. The Institute also has an executive trainee hostel with nine Air Conditioned rooms and semi Executive hostel with 36 beds. There are two computer classrooms, two conference halls and one dining hall also housed at the campus and available for rent. The campus is equipped with “free wifi” and has good mobile coverage for almost all telecom majors. The Institute also has a good library with wide range of books from philosophy to computers. The trainees can avail themselves of the Canteen services provided inside the campus at reasonable rates. 

The Institute of Land and Disaster Management (ILDM) offers one course programme. MBA in Disaster Management and MBA Water and River Management with an approved intake of 30 students. Institute of Land and Disaster Management admission process has three important steps: KMAT, CMAT, or CAT scores followed by a group discussion and then a personal interview.

  • The candidates need to pay the fee for the application according to the institution. The same can be looked at on its website or online application portal.
  • Shortlisting is made by ILDM based on Entrance Exam score, academic record as well as academic performance of candidate for the second round of process.
  • The shortlisted candidates are asked to participate in a group discussion. This is to check their communication skills, ability to work in teams, and knowledge of current affairs related to the field of study they have chosen.
  • The final stage of the selection process is a personal interview. Here, candidates are evaluated on their motivation, subject knowledge, and overall suitability for the programme.
  • The institute makes a final selection on the basis of a composite score that includes performance in the entrance exam, academic background, group discussion, and personal interview.
  • The selected candidates receive an offer of admission. They have to accept the same within the time frame specified and pay the fee and submit other documents if required.
