Kausar College of Education accredited in 2002 is one of the renowned institutions involved in teacher education in picturesque territory of Kashmir. This co-educational college is situated at Nowshera, Srinagar and is affiliated to the University of Kashmir and recognised by National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE). Founded over an expanse of 4 acres, the college provides a favourable learning atmosphere to those who aspire to be educators. Currently, Kausar College of Education boasts of a faculty of 16 competent professional to offer the much-needed expertise to transform education in the region.

Kausar College of Education has the following modern facilities that would enhance the academic activities of the college. Fundamental to all learning resources is the library which is stocked with more than seven thousand books of which six thousand three hundred and seventy are textbooks, three hundred and seventy eight referential books in addition to journals and magazines. It is a rich resource hence very useful to both students and faculty members. It also has a colourful and active cafeteria that addresses the college foods needs in providing snacks and meals at different times of the day. The college offers sports facilities for those who are interested in physical activities; there emphasis is to ensure that students get both mental and physical development.

Kausar College of Education mainly trains teachers from the public by providing the Bachelor of Education (B.Ed). This is a two-year full-time course that prepares students the needed knowledge and skills to enable them to teach effectively. B.Ed programme is the flagship programme of the college which perhaps reveals the college’s desire to produce competent and qualified personnel in the teaching fraternity. Although the exact numbers for intake are not available The college continues to uphold the policy standards to admit students with credit for their accomplishments and allow them to achieve their dreams of gaining education.

The admission of students at Kausar College of Education is very competitive and is based on merit. The entire process from issuance of admission notices to selection of students is addressed by the college in its Admission Committee. The points for eligibility criteria are as follows: Qualifying examination: 90 marks [minimum pass mark is only graduation] Postgraduate qualifications: 10 marks in total.
