Kotturswamy College of Teacher Education at Ballari was set up in 1963 and is a reputed institution carrying the responsibility of producing quality teachers. This co-educational college is at Kappagal Road in Ballari of Karnataka State, with 4-acre campus land for the college. Approved by NCTE for Teacher Education and accredited by NAAC, it is one of the affiliated units of the university dedicated to the cause of providing quality teachers for future generations. There are a total of 185 students taking two courses offered by the institute, with an able faculty strength of thirteen people. This exclusively B.Ed. and M.Ed. college has been exclusively imparting the teaching talent for more than five decades.

The college currently has a host of infrastructure facilities that are of great help for learning in students. Photographs and diagrams illustrate the importance of a stocked library as a knowledge resource centre as well as departmental laboratories to improve practical skills. For instance, the institution has a very strong IT support system, which dates it as a modern education institution. In this regard, they have more information on extracurricular activities; they can use the college auditorium to organise events and seminars and also carry out various activities in sports. Kotturswamy College of Teacher Education offers two full-time courses: The present courses include the Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) and the Master of Education (M.Ed.). Normal intake capacity of B. Ed programme is 100 and M. Ed programme 50. Each course takes two years to complete and encompasses theory and practice in education. These core teacher education programs show the college’s commitment to training qualified and competent trainers.

The admission criteria at Kotturswamy College of Teacher Education involve performance in marks secured in the qualifying examination and/or the entrance examination. Concerning the B.Ed. programme, students are admitted as per policy formulated by the state government, UT administration, and the university, respectively.
