Kuriakose Elias College was established in the year 1964 and is approved by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and accredited by NAAC. The college offers courses at undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral levels. Kuriakose Elias College is named after the renowned Malayalam poet and social reformer Kuriakose Elias Chavara.

Kuriakose Elias College provides full-time 3 undergraduate programmes such as BA in areas like English, Economics, History, Malayalam, Political Science, Psychology, Sociology, BSc in areas like Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Botany, Zoology, Computer Science, Electronics, and BCom. At the postgraduate level, it offers 2 year MA, MSc, MCom, and MSW programmes. Since the college is affiliated with Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam, thus the admissions to undergraduate programmes are merit-based, determined by 10+2 examination marks in the relevant stream. 

Kuriakose Elias College offers various facilities, amongst which the college offers Placement facilities wherein a dedicated placement team looks after students getting placed at reputed companies. As per the NIRF 2025 reports, a total number of 69 students were placed with a median salary of Rs 2.64 LPA in 2023–24. The two-year postgraduate programmes a total of 98 students were placed at Rs 2.60 LPA median salary in 2023–24.
