Latha Mathavan Engineering College is and established engineering college situated in Madurai of Tamil Nadu in the year 2007. This affiliated college, recognised by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), presently imparts a variety of engineering courses on its expanded campus of 10 acres. LMEC Madurai, in its abbreviated form, currently has a total student capacity of 351 and with a faculty of 94, the ratio is quite healthy. There are six courses in total that are provided at the college, however they span two degrees; The college hosts various fields in engineering to fit as many academic preferences as possible.

LMEC Madurai has an aim to create the university’s centrality as an institution where every student would get all round facilities to improve their learning. The college posses its own hostel facilities for Boys and Girls separately in order to provide an atmosphere suitable for a collegiate community. These hostels have hygienic dining halls with separate timing for boys and girls, mineral water round the clock and internet facilities. The campus boasts of fully equipped and modern library that covers a floor area of 4000 sq. ft. with books, text, journals, and digital resources. Concerning, the students’ health and well-being LMEC boasts of a health centre, with first aid amenities, and a complete Gym. The college has also developed well equipped laboratories, adequate hall for occasions, seminars etc, and good parking space for both faculties, staff and students.

Together with its affiliated colleges, LMEC Madurai provides 5 full time undergraduate courses, and 1 postgraduate course. The undergraduate programmes include BE in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering and Computer Science & Engineering streams. At postgraduate level it provides ME in CAD CAM.
