Mai Bhago Girls Polytechnic College for Girls Amritsar department was established in the year 1994 which is providing the technical education to the girl students. The government-owned polytechnic college is in Amritsar, Punjab and occupies a vast 15-acre area of land. The college is approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and the college provide plethora of diploma courses. The institute admitted a total of 532 students and employs a faculty of 39 personnel which makes for a healthy student-teacher ratio.

The college has state of art facilities to support its academic programs. A computerized facility for library and information serves as a repository center which has thousand five hundred and sixty-five titles and eleven thousand two hundred and twenty volumes or records featuring technical and other fields of specialization, general references, and others. 

Library requires 125 students at a time to allow lean and comfortable study and research environment. In this regard, the college boasts of equipped technical laboratories, especially for electronics and communication engineering. These are Digital Electronics, Microprocessor, Communication Engineering, Microwave Engineering, and a host of others, which exposes students to some practical aspect in line with the theories they learn.

This college for girls has five diploma programmes full time with a tenure of three years each. Such courses that include: Diploma in Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Medical Laboratory Technology, Architecture Assistantship and Modern Office Practice. 

In order to facilitate comfortable as well as effective campus life, the institute offers many amenities. The male and female hostels are present with three blocks of accommodation for girls and a mess for the girls’ hostel students who are students who come from different stations. It has a health centre with first aid facilities, sport facilities and a gym for physical health. An auditorium is an area for hosting events and seminars, and computing with network connections for computer education is facilitated by the IT. Other facilities within the complex include a cafeteria, parking space, and a few accommodation facilities for guest faculty and travelers respectively.
