Maulana Azad College, Kolkata was established in 1924 and founded by Lord Lytton, the contemporary Governor of Bengal to promote Islamic learning and general education among the Muslim population. Maulana Azad College is accredited with an 'A' grade by NAAC, recognised as a 'Centre of Potential for Excellence' by UGC, and designated as a 'DBT-STAR College' by MHRD.
