Meenakshi Ramaswamy Engineering College (MREC) was set up in the year 2009 and it was situated at Ariyalur, Tamil Nadu. Located in a rather large 11-acre area of land, MREC was administering a list of engineering and technology courses. Annually, the college is affiliated with Anna University and is approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), so the college provides the quality education following the standards of the country. The annual student enrolment is 842 and the faculty strength is 87, making MREC a good platform to study for budding engineers.

Some of the facilities that MREC prides itself on include the following, which are as follows: Our college library is aptly furnished with a large number of books, regional and foreign magazines, and education CDs/DVDs. There is also an e-library and online public access catalogue to optimise on the use of resources. Thus, the campus accommodates separate hostel facilities for the boys and girls for out station students with all the basic conveniences. Sport lovers in the college can benefit from different sporting facilities, as this encourages health embraces and team work. Besides, MREC has well-built IT facilities, cafeteria, hall for functions, seminars, 979 efficient laboratories, health centre and gym, among others. The college also has transport facilities through which buses are available for some routes of Trichy city and nearby areas where students and staff always find easy in transportation.

Thus, the college provides almost all the possible specialities of the engineering field. To date, Meenakshi Ramaswamy Engineering College has twelve programmes offered; eight programmes are offered for undergraduates and four programmes for postgraduate students. The undergraduate programmes include BE in CSE, ECE, EEE, Mechanical, Civil, B.Tech Agriculture Engineering, B.Tech A.I. & M.L., and B.Tech Biomedical Engineering. For post graduation, M.E. in Computer Science and Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Communication Systems, and MCA. 

The admission process at MREC is as fair and straightforward; the institution follows the admission policy laid out by Anna University and the government of Tamil Nadu. For undergrad programmes, the Common Engineering Entrance Test and Admission (CEETA) is the common admission test used.
