MES College of Nursing is the first and the only institution in Kerala for women's nursing. It is affiliated to Kerala University of Health Sciences, Thrissur, and is recognized by the Indian Nursing Council (INC) with a rich choice of nursing education programs to meet the continually changing health needs. Admission to MES College of Nursing involves a highly competitive admission process through which it chooses the most meritorious of applicants into the various nursing programs it offers. This college has a merit-based admission system of students defined and strictly regulated by the Indian Nursing Council, Kerala Nurses and Midwife Council, and Kerala University of Health Sciences. Thus, all admission processes for undergraduate programs like B.Sc. Nursing are subject to merit lists based on Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (PCB) marks among other relevant qualifying examinations.

Usually, the whole admission cycle happens within the academic calendar of Kerala University of Health Sciences. The following are the eligibility criteria for admission to nursing programs through MES College:

1. Completion of 10 + 2 or equivalent exam from any recognized board

Application Process

MES College of Nursing, Malappuram, has an application process divided into various steps:

1. Admission Advertising: Admission notification among the general public through the college website and newspapers.

2. Application Form: Candidates have to fill up an application form. This is made available mostly online on the college website or at the college admission office physically.

3. Submission of Documents: Candidates have to attach the following documents to the application form duly filled by them:

•  Class 10th and Class 12th mark sheets
• Transfer Certificate
• Conduct Certificate
• Medical Fitness Certificate
• Caste Certificate, if applicable
• Any other document requested by the college or authority.

4. Application Fee: The applicant is required to pay an application fee mentioned. The mode of payment and amount of fee will be specified in the instructions for the application.

5. Merit List Preparation: On the basis of PCB marks of the qualifying examination, a merit list is developed by the college.

6. Seat Allotment and Counseling: Based on merit and availability, candidates may be shortlisted and called to the counseling session for seat allotment.

7. Fee Payment and Admission Confirmation: The selected candidate shall pay the course fee and complete other admission formalities during the stipulated time to ensure that their seat is made secure.

Admission Process by Degree

B.Sc Nursing: This 4 year MBBS Nursing program has approval to admit 70 students. A merit list is drawn based on performance in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (PCB) in the qualifying examination. This program is also within the ambit of the criteria for eligibility laid down by Indian Nursing Council and Kerala Nurses and Midwife Council, and Kerala University of Health Sciences.

Post Basic B.Sc Nursing: This course allows 20 students to join in 2 years. The entry process is similar to that of B.Sc Nursing, which includes merit list based on qualifying examination PCB. The candidate should be a diploma in nursing or an equivalent qualification recognized by the nursing councils. 

GNM (General Nursing and Midwifery): For the GNM course, the institution has around 40 seats on offer. Specific details for admission are available; however, it can be inferred that admission would probably hold true as for other programs in that merit-based criteria is reproduced as well. 

M.Sc Nursing: The areas include Mental Health Nursing, Medical Surgical Nursing, Child Health Nursing, Community Health Nursing, and Obstetrics and Gynaecology Nursing in M.Sc Nursing in MES College of Nursing. For each specialization, the college has 4 seats. Entry into these courses is mostly through the students' academic merit from B.Sc Nursing and any admission entrance exam conducted at the state or university level.
