Model Primary Teacher’s Training Institute is a primary institute which came into existence in 2002 and it is situated in Murshidabad, West Bengal. This co-educational institution approved by the NCTE National Council for Teacher Education offers teacher training programmes. The institute is located on 1 acre of land and thus provides a school-like atmosphere to the students who wish to become teachers. Moreover, the institute has an overall student enrolment of ninety-six students and a faculty of York-10, which guarantees an appropriate student-faculty ratio to provide proper attention and result-orientated education.

The institute has had the honour of combining modern teaching and learning aids with state-of-the-art infrastructure and equipment to help students. A good library should be filled with books in relevance to its content as per syllabus of West Bengal Board of Primary Education. The collection should include a literature, social science and general knowledge section. The overscaled playground beside the academic block allows for adequate space for physical exercising as well as indoor exercising in the structure created. Physics, chemistry and biology laboratories at the institute have also been well equipped and designed to allow thirty students to conduct their practicals at a given time. To cater to the emergent requirements of education technology for IT, an aesthetically designed Education Tech Lab has been set up which fulfils the guidelines of the West Bengal Board of Primary Education and NCTE.

Model Primary Teacher's Training Institute currently offers one primary course: the Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed). This full-time programme takes two years and has a regulatory capacity to admit fifty students. D.El.Ed is the course under which students develop themselves to become primary grade teachers by providing them all the techniques and information that are essential for teaching children of these classes.

The admission criteria to the D.El.Ed programme offered in the Model Primary Teacher’s Training Institute follows a merit system. Admission to preclinical courses is on merit, that is, the grades obtained in the qualifying examination and/orthe entrance test.
