National Centre for Radio Astrophysics (NCRA), Pune was established in 1960. It is a government institution affiliated with the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, Mumbai. The college offers courses at the doctoral level. NCRA Pune courses are available in the Radiology branch. The courses provided by the college are PhD Radio Astronomy and PhD Radio Astronomy Integrated.
The duration of the NCRA Pune doctoral courses is six years. Candidates seeking admission to programmes are required to meet the essential eligibility criteria. NCRA Pune admissions are provided based on the Joint Entrance Screening Test (JEST) and the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR) entrance test conducted by TIFR-Mumbai. Both methods comprise a written test and two interviews. The college also provides many facilities for its students. NCRA Pune facilities include a Radio Physics Laboratory (RPL), a library, an auditorium and many more. The RPL organises various training programmes for students.
