About NIEPMD Chennai
The National Institute for Empowerment of Persons with Multiple Disabilities, Chennai was established in 2005. NIEPMD has been given on an outpatient basis through a multi-disciplinary team model. The Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, Govt. of India has been working and aiming for the empowerment of persons with disabilities since its commencement.
National Institute for Empowerment of Persons with Multiple Disabilities, Chennai also called NIEPMD Chennai courses are Diploma, BPT, BOT, BASLP, BEdSplEd, PGD, MPhil and MEdSplEd. Admissions into UG courses such as BASLP, BPT and BOT are given based on CET scores and diploma admissions are given based on the scores of the entrance exam whereas BEdSplEd are given based on the merit of the qualifying exam.
While admissions into PG programmes such as MPhil are based on the scores of the entrance exam conducted by the institute while MEdSplEd and PGD are based on the merit of the qualifying exam. NIEPMD Chennai is affiliated with Tamil Nadu Teachers Education University, Chennai. NIEPMD also facilitates separate hostels for boys and girls and medical can be accessed by the students.
