Nilasaila Institute of Science and Technology (NIST) started in the year 2012, is an affiliated college situated in Sergarh, Balasore, Odisha. The Bangalore based institution has got AICTE approval to provide quality technical education from its campus spread across 5 acres of land. NIST provides diploma carnation to its students besides a total enrolment of 977 students facilitated by 40 faculty members. The importance of technical education in the institute is clearly visible in the five diploma courses it currently offers to students mainly consisting of the practical and theoretical aspects of the field in which the students want to specialise.

Nilasaila Institute of Science and Technology has several updated amenities that help the students in their learning processes well equipped. The campus has state of art laboratories for each department which is inherent to impart hands-on experience to the students for technical training. The institute has a well-stocked library and has publications in science, humanities and engineering science and technology. The NIST offer hostels for both boys and girls within the compound for those who need to be accommodated and promise comfort and security for the student. The services provided in the hostels include Internet connection, colour television set, provision of vegetarian and non vegetarian meals. The institute also avails a cafeteria that provides quality and cheap meals as well as addresses students and staff social needs.

NIST has five programmes that are full time diploma programmes, which take three years to complete. Such programmes are Diploma in Automobile Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering; Electrical and Electronics Engineering and Mechanical Engineering. The institute has total approved student’s capacity of 300 students divided across the various courses offered with capacity to take 60 students for each course.
